What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a science based on the principle that there are reflexes in our hands and feet that correspond to different parts of the body, including glands and organs. The goal of reflexology is to break down and release congestion or a blockage around the nerve endings in the hands and feet, to stimulate blood flow throughout the entire body, and to reduce stress.
Reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Reducing stress in the body can help the body heal itself. Experiences with reflexology sessions vary from a general feeling of relaxation to a sense of “lightness” or tingling in the body, as well as feelings of warmth or a sense of “energy moving” from the practitioner’s pressure to the specific body area or organ. Usually, after a session your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of well-being improving. You may also find that other aspects improve, too; however, this happens on an individual basis.
A reflexology session is 60 minutes, during which I work on either the hands or feet. It is possible to have a 60-minute foot session with hands added on at the end for an additional 20 minutes. Reflexology is a therapy that can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end-of-life care, and everyone in between. However, there may occasionally be times when I alter how I approach a session. It is important to keep your reflexologist informed of your health conditions.
