I hear this all the time:
“I need to strengthen my core.”
And I get it—when your core feels weak, everything else feels harder.
Maybe your back gets sore after sitting at your desk.
Or you notice your posture slipping.
Or you're just feeling a little... off-center.
The truth is, core strength isn’t about crunches or chasing a six-pack.
It’s about feeling steady. Supported. Strong from the inside out.
Today, I want to share one of my favorite simple, sustainable ways to build real core strength—without the pressure. I filmed a short video to walk you through them (scroll down ⬇️).
But first, here’s why your core matters more than you might think…
Why a Strong Core Is Important
Your core is involved in almost everything you do—walking, bending, lifting, even breathing.
When it’s strong and working well, it:
- Supports your spine
- Improves posture
- Helps prevent injury
- Keeps you balanced (in more ways than one)

And no, strong doesn’t have to mean “defined abs.”
Those are just the outermost muscles.
True strength comes from the deep layers—especially the transversus abdominis, which acts like a built-in support belt.
What Is a Neutral Pelvis—and Why It Matters
In this practice, we’re focusing on engaging those deeper abdominal muscles. One of the key things we want to do is keep a neutral pelvis—the most supportive position for your spine.
Here’s how to find yours:
- Lie on your back with knees bent, feet on the floor.
- Place your fingers on your hip points (those bony ridges).
- Then, place your fingertips on your pubic bone.
- When these points are close to level, you’ve found your neutral pelvis.

It might feel subtle, but this small shift sets the stage for real strength.
Gentle Core-Strengthening Move (Video)
Before you dive in:
If you find yourself tensing your face, holding your breath, or gripping your neck—pause.
These movements are about control, not strain.
It’s totally okay to go slow and scale back. That’s where true connection starts.
Why This Matters
Strengthening your core isn’t about doing more—it’s about building a deeper connection to your body.
It helps you move through life—lifting groceries, hiking trails, sitting at work—with more ease and less pain.
And when you feel strong?
You show up differently in everything else you do.
If you’re looking for guidance in building real strength—strength that supports your daily life and feels good in your body—my new membership, Rooted in Strength, is now open. I’d love to tell you more. Just send me a message and I’ll be happy to share the details.
