Bumps, bruises, cuts, and bug bites happen a lot in the summer! And not just to your kids, but the entire family!
In today’s article I’m sharing an essential oil blend I like to keep on hand, especially during the warmer months.
The essential oils in this blend make a wonderful “first-aid” blend because they help (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
-
reduce pain
-
relieve itching
-
reduce germs
-
calm inflammation
-
heal small wounds
-
support skin healing
They also help calm the nervous system, which can be helpful since tears or anxiety can come with a fall.
Boo-Boo Blend
-
1 oz jojoba oil (or almond oil, olive oil, coconut oil)
-
7 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
-
7 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
-
5 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)
-
3 drops Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum)
-
2 drops Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Make this blend in a 1 oz (30ml) glass bottle (like this one or that one). Add the essential oils into the bottle, then your oil of choice. Gently shake the bottle to combine the ingredients.
To use: cleanse the wound and gently apply the blend.
This healing blend is good for
-
Bruises
-
Minor cuts
-
Scrapes
-
Bug bites
-
Stings
-
Minor burns
What this blend is NOT good for
-
Puncture wounds (due to the Helichrysum)
-
Any injury that requires medical attention
Notes: The essential oils in this blend are gentle yet powerful. This blend is made with a 4% dilution, which means that it is stronger than a blend you use daily. Use as needed until the minor injury is healed. If you don’t have Helichrysum italicum then simply omit it.
Now go make this blend and keep it handy this summer!
