Have you been feeling the urge to shake off the heaviness of winter, yet also finding it hard to get going? The transition from winter to spring can be refreshing—but it can also feel a little sticky.

Just like nature is waking up, your body and mind are shifting too. And this transition doesn’t always happen smoothly.

Think of Spring as Mother Earth’s New Year—a time of renewal, growth, and fresh starts. Just like the trees start budding and the birds return, we, too, can embrace this shift, inviting more movement, energy, and lightness into our days.

If you’ve been feeling slow, stagnant, or just a little off, keep reading. I’ll share:

✔️ Why you might feel heavy as we move into Spring
✔️ How to wake up your body and mind with small, simple shifts
✔️ Quick ways to move your fluids and body to feel more vibrant

Spring Awakening: A Natural Reset

Spring brings:
🌱 Growth and transformation
🌼 Bursts of color and longer days
☀️ More warmth and fresh air
🐦 The return of birdsong and open windows

And while the extra sunlight boosts mood and energy, the shift from winter’s slow, inward pace to spring’s energy can feel a little sluggish at first.

This isn’t just in your head—your body literally adjusts with the seasons.

For me, Spring brings…

🧹 A strong urge to deep clean and declutter the house
🌱 An impatience to get my hands in the garden
🐓 A conversation (yet again) about "Should we get chickens?"
🚶‍♀️ More walks outside, soaking in the fresh air
☀️ A craving for open windows and sunshine pouring in

Just like nature is waking up, we feel this pull toward movement, renewal, and fresh energy—but sometimes, our bodies don’t quite catch up as fast as our minds want them to.

In Ayurveda (a sister science to yoga), spring is associated with moisture and heaviness—think melting snow, sticky mud, and damp earth. This can translate into feeling weighed down, physically or mentally.

So, how do we sync up with Spring’s energy?

By moving. Moving your fluids, your body, and your breath to release stagnation and invite fresh energy in.

Here’s how.

#1 Move Your Fluids: Clear Stagnation & Boost Circulation

The easiest way to shake off winter’s heaviness is to get things flowing—your blood, your lymph, and your digestion. Try these simple practices:

🌿 Dry Skin Brushing (2 Minutes)

A quick, easy way to wake up your skin, stimulate circulation, and support lymphatic flow.

✅ Use a natural bristle brush, loofah, or raw silk gloves
✅ Brush in light, sweeping strokes toward your heart
✅ Work from feet to legs, hands to arms, then your torso
✅ Brush in a circular motion on your abdomen
Shower afterward to wash off dead skin

Your skin will feel tingly and awake—like a mini-reset for your whole body!

🍋 Warm Water with Lemon (1 Minute)

Start your day with warm lemon water to wake up digestion, hydrate your system, and support gentle detoxification.

How?

✔ Squeeze half a lemon into a cup of warm water
✔ Sip first thing in the morning
✔ Notice how it kickstarts your system—maybe even helping with that first good 💩 of the day

Feels like an instant refresh—simple but effective!

🦵 Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani) (5 Minutes)

This restorative pose drains stagnant lymph and venous fluids, giving your legs a break while calming your mind.

✔ Scoot your bum close to a wall
✔ Extend your legs up and let them rest against the wall
✔ Let your arms relax at your sides
✔ Close your eyes, breathe, and stay for 5+ minutes

Helps with swollen feet, tired legs, and mental fog—try it before bed!

#2 Move Your Body: Wake Up Your Energy

Spring is about momentum—so let’s get your body moving in ways that feel light and invigorating (without overcomplicating things).

🚶 Brisk Walks & Birdwatching

Walking is one of the easiest, most natural ways to reset your system.

Upgrade your walk: Try walking a little brisker—not just a casual stroll. It increases circulation, wakes up your muscles, and gets you breathing deeper.

Bonus: Make it a birdwatching walk—listening to birdsong lowers stress and improves mental clarity

🧘 Spring-Inspired Yoga

Yoga naturally warms the body, boosts circulation, and moves lymphatic fluid.

✔ If you already practice yoga → Try holding poses longer or adding a more energizing flow.
✔ If you’re newer to yoga → A few gentle sun salutations or standing poses can help wake up your system.

Spring is Here—Time to Bloom 🌸

Seasonal transitions aren’t just happening outside—they’re happening inside you too.

🌿 If you’re feeling sluggish—move your fluids.
🌞 If you’re feeling stuck—move your body.
🌼 If you’re feeling overwhelmed—breathe and simplify.

Spring is nature’s reminder that renewal is always possible—and that includes you.

Start small. Choose one or two simple actions that feel good, and notice how even the tiniest shift can change your energy. 🌿
